‘Big Hero 6’ Animated Series Bringing Back Most Of The Movie’s Voice Cast
Way back in the spring, we learned that Disney XD would bring back the superhero teamBig Hero 6in their own animated series. At the time, all we knew was that it would pick up shortly after the events of the first film and the series would be executive produced byKim PossiblecreatorsMark McCorkleandBob Schooleyalong with anotherKim Possiblevet,Nicholas Filippi, who’ll serve as supervising director. But now we have word on the voice cast, and fans of the movie will be very pleased to hear who’s on board.

In a press release, Disney has announced thatRyan Potterwill reprise his role as Hiro andScott Adsitwill provide the voice of his trusty, puffy robot Baymax. In addition,Jamie Chungwill be back as the speedy Go Go andGenesis Rodriguezreturns as the brilliant Honey Lemon. However, the rest of the superhero team will have a slight change. Damon Wayans Jr. and T.J. Miller won’t be back as Wasabi and Fred, and those roles will be voiced byThe Walking Dead’sKhary Paytonand formerSaturday Night Livecast memberBrooks Wheelan.
Other returning cast members from theBig Hero 6movie includeMaya Rudolphas Aunt Cass,Alan Tudykas techy guru Alistair Krei and evenStan Leeas Fred’s father, who had a cameo after the credits of the movie. That’s an impressive assembly of talent for an animated series on Disney XD. As far as I can tell, not sinceTRON Uprisinghas such an assembly of big screen talent come together for an animated series on the channel. And that’s just the primary cast.

The Big Hero 6 series picks up immediately following the events of the feature film and continues the adventures and friendship of 14-year-old tech genius Hiro and his compassionate, cutting-edge robot Baymax. Along with their friends Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Go Go and Fred, they form the legendary superhero team Big Hero 6 and embark on high-tech adventures as they protect their city from an array of scientifically enhanced villains. In his normal day-to-day life, Hiro faces daunting academic challenges and social trials as the new prodigy at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology.
