David Fincher In Talks To Direct ‘Gone Girl’

David Fincheris in talks to direct an adaptation of the popular bookGone Girl.Varietyis reporting that no offer is on the table yet, but the filmmaker is very interested to make it happen if20,000 Leagues Under the Seadoesn’t go into production.

The book is available onAmazonfor around $12. The screen rights toGillian Flynn’s book sparked a large bidding war last summer, with Fox outbidding other studios for a seven figure range deal.
Reese Witherspoonand Bruna Papandrea will produce the film, and while it hasn’t been announced, I’m sure Witherspoon might be eyeing a role in the adaptation.
Fincher was also developing aStar Wars-style reboot of20,000 Leagues Under the Sea(potentially starringBrad Pitt) for Disney, and the mouse house is deciding whether to move forward with that film. Variety says that “Fincher had begun looking for other projects in case 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea fell through.”
