Five ‘Star Trek’ Characters Who Are Definitely Not In ‘Star Trek 2’

Getting a person to say something, anything, definitive aboutStar Trek 2is akin to finding a fan who doesn’t likeThe Wrath of Khan. It just doesn’t happen. Even when Simon Peggcame out and said thathisStar Trek 2co-star Benedict Cumberbatch was not playing Khan, no matterhow many people say the opposite, it’s hard to take him seriously.

Now one of the film’s producers and co-writers,Roberto Orci, has come out and said, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that five well-known (and not-so-well-known)Star Trekcharacters won’t be appearing inJ.J. Abrams’Star Trek 2on June 02, 2025. Khan is not on the list. See who is, below.

Thanks toAin’t It Cool News(ViaJoBlo) for grabbing this info from a radio interview. Here are the five characters Orci says are not inStar Trek 2.

Admittedly, I’m more aWarsguy thanTrekguy so I had to do a little Wikipedia-ing on a few of these, but here’s who they are in case – like me – you had no idea. (If it was IG-88, Yakface, Aurra Sing, Ody Mandrell and Sifo-Dyas , no Wikipedia-ing would have been needed. But I digress.)

Gary Mitchell was a Starfleet Officer and friend of James T. Kirk who became kind of possessed during an episode of the original TV series and had to be killed. Charlie X was the name of an episode of the show featuring a boy named Charlie found stranded on a planet after 14 years who then attempted to take over the Enterprise. Ruk was an evil android, Janice Rand was a career Starfleet member who appeared both on the TV show and movies and The Borg are an alien race of baddies with a shared collective who appeared both onThe Next Generationand inFirst Contact.

So yeah, thanks a bunch Orci. Of course none of those characters are in the movie. We know the film will have Klingonsas per Abrams' teaseso that eliminates the Borg (more or less) and most everyone else is a pointless one off. Rand was a major character though so, I guess, her not appearing at least eliminates one potential love interest for Kirk. That’s something.
