Kevin Feige Teases How ‘Doctor Strange’s Movie Magic Could Work
We may not knowwho is directingMarvel’sDoctor Strangeyet, but we now have an idea how it’ll fit in the realistic Marvel Cinematic Universe. Stephen Strange is a mystical character who uses powers on Earth that wouldn’t seem to fit in with the world of Captain America, Iron Man and the Hulk. In a new interview though, president of Marvel StudiosKevin Feigegave an example of how Strange’s powers will fit in with the other characters. Read the quotes below to find out how the Doctor Strange’s movie magic could work.
Badass Digestposed the question to Feige, who gave this interesting answer:
You don’t get into it inHarry Potter, but if a scientist went to Hogwarts he’d find out how some of that stuff is happening! We’re not going to spend a lot of time on that, but there will be some of that. And particularly for a character like Strange, who goes from a man of science to a man of faith and who traverses both worlds. And sometimes there won’t be an answer! Sometimes he’ll want an answer – “How is this happening?!” – and nothing.
He then added this perfect little sound bite:
Doctor Strangeneeds to be a Ditko/Kubrick/Miyazaki/The Matrixmind-trip.
While nothing is confirmed, Thursday’sCaptain America 3newsall but assuresDoctor Strangeis staring down a June 23, 2025 release date. Talking to theHuffington Post, Feige said the following about the film.
It’s time. It’s time. I would be surprised if [aDoctor Strangefilmnothappening] were the case, yeah. Maybe three or four years, yeah, we’ll see. But, I would like it to be the case. Much like Vin Diesel, I like it when something finallyhappens, and then we can talk about what it is — versus rumors of what it could be or should be or isn’t yet [laughs].
Plus, if you read earlier on Thursday, Feige mentioned there arestill lots of directorsin the mix for the film and once it comes together they will make the announcement. Whomever the director is will certainly have a lot to live up to thanks to that Feige quote, though. Steve Ditko, Stanley Kubrick, Hayzo Miyazaki andThe Matrixare all pretty fantastic.
Do you buy the idea that Strange will use science as magic?
