‘Real Steel’ Viral Site Reveals Two New Clips

Call me crazy (and you have) but I’m really looking forward toShawn Levy’s robot-boxing action filmReal SteelstarringHugh Jackman, Evangeline LillyandAnthony Mackie. Ever since DreamWorksreleased the first teaser trailer, I’ve been uncharacteristically excited for this film, which follows a retired fighter on the rise in the new world of robot boxing. Combining science fiction, action and sports, for some reason I just thinkReal Steelcould be incredibly fun.

Though the film won’t hit theaters until October 7, a viral marketing campaign has already begun. A website launched with a detailed back story on the World Robot Boxing league that’s featured in the movie and, with a little digging, the site premiered two short, but sweet, rock ‘em sock ‘em robot clips. Check them out and more after the break.

We first got wind of these fromFirst ShowingbutGenre Addictwas able to grab the clips for you to check out.

If you want to go through the whole viral campaign, by all means, go for it. The website isWRB.comand you can search around for codes. But if you just want to jump to the goods, here are the two short clips.

On the viral site, it highlights some of the robots who fight, including Zeus – the current champion – and Noisy Boy. It then talks about how the sport was born in a bar in Tokyo called Koma Club and that two men – Kizu and Raiden – had different philosophies on how to expand the sport. Chances are none of this will be featured in the movie, but it’s always fun to delve a little into the back story.

Am I still totally crazy to be excited forReal Steel? I am, aren’t I?
