See Megan Gale As Wonder Woman In George Miller’s Abandoned ‘Justice League Mortal’

2017’sJustice League Part Onewill mark the first time the Justice League has officially assembled in a live-action feature film, but there were plenty of attempts to bring the superhero team to the big screen before that. One of the most famous isGeorge Miller’sJustice League Mortal, which had a cast in place before the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike derailed it altogether.

Since then, it’s become one of the great what-ifs of superhero movie fandom, alongside the likes of Tim Burton’sSuperman Lives. But while we’ll never actually get to see the film that could’ve been, we have a tiny taste of it today. PhotographerMark Rogershas shared a couple of photos ofMegan Galein costume as Wonder Woman in Miller’s canceled film. See theJustice League MortalWonder Woman images after the jump.

Okay, real talk: the boobs on theJustice League Mortalversion of the costume are justridiculous. They literally look like someone sawed a coconut in half and taped the pieces to Gale’s chest. I’m not much a fan of the blue skirt, either, which looks oddly worn and cheap compared to the rest of the costume. But the intricate patterns on the leather are a nice touch. And the headpiece is more accurate to the comics, for those who care about such things.

For comparison, here’s what Gal Gadot will look like as Wonder Woman in next year’sBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. (The photo on the left is to give a better sense of the colors.) If nothing else, at least the boobs are less aggressively spherical.

Besides Gale, Miller’sJustice League Mortalwould have starred Armie Hammer as Batman, D.J. Cotrona as Superman, Adam Brody as the Flash, Common as the Green Lantern, Jay Baruchel as Maxwell Lord, Santiago Cabrera as Aquaman, Hugh Keays-Byrne as Martian Manhunter, Teresa Palmer as Talia al Ghul, and Zoe Kazan as Iris Allen.

The film has been the subject of much speculation, to the extent thatthere’s even a documentary in the worksabout it.Some concept arthas offered a tiny peek of the movie that never was, andspeaking with /Filmearlier this year, Cotrona described Miller’s ambitious vision:

The best way I can describe it is: George Miller’s mind is so operatic and big and expansive, it’s a shame that the world didn’t get to see what he would do with superheroes. It was allegorical, like a story of Greek Gods almost. He was doing things with the Superman character and Batman character, and all the iconic favorites, that’s never been done before. Watch Fury Road and you can only imagine what he would do with those iconic characters.

Gale eventually did get her chance to work with Miller onMad Max: Fury Road, along with her would-beJustice League Mortalco-stars Kazan and Keays-Byrne. Here she is as the Valkyrie inMad Max: Fury Road:
