‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ Trailer, US Green-Band Version [Updated]

Last week, we heard that a red-band trailer forDavid Fincher’s new version ofThe Girl With the Dragon Tattoohadhit Europe, and theinevitable bootleghit the internet on Saturday. Hard. (One version also played in some US theaters.) Cue a few days of speculation that Sony had deliberately leaked the trailer, which seemed to be put to rest late today when the bootleg was finally yanked from YouTube.

Now the green-band version, which is basically the same as the previous one, has landed a couple days early. (It was dated for 6/2, and this is more than likely another leak. But this cat is way, wayout of the bag at this point.) Check it out after the break, and know that with respect to nudity and blood, it is as work-safe as a trailer for this film is going to get.

Update:A quicktime HD version is now available onApple. The image used to promote the latest trailer release (above) suggests that the US poster will get around the issue of Rooney Mara’s nudity by cropping the image we saw used in theinternational poster.

I get the feeling that most of you have seen this already, so I won’t waste time with comments here. This is a much better quality version, so you may both see the great many flash-cut images in far better detail, and enjoy the unusual cover of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Immigrant Song’ in better quality. You’ll get a much better sense of how the footage is cut to the song, and the sense of inevitability that comes via the long tracking shots down snowy roads is really tangible. In general, this offers a much better sense of the visual control in the film, if not of the performances. But that will come.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, aka the ‘feel bad movie of Christmas,’ hits on December 21.
